The DSR7 is one of the first headphones of the audio-technica range to include the newly founded Pure Digital Drive technology. This technology may well pave the way for premium headphones going forward, so its defiantly something to look out for!
How does Pure Digital Drive Technology Work?
Let's start off by saying that the DSR7BT doesn't have any traditional analogue headphone jack. Why I hear you ask - because they simply don't work this way.
As illustrated above, the digital signal goes from your source straight to their True Motion D/A Drivers, so the signal stays digital until right up until the end point of sound creation. This eliminates the need for a traditional DAC (Digital To Analogue Converter). The newly created diaphragms are extremely light, allowing them to move freely for optimum performance. The result? A much more precise and accurate movement from the diaphragm, which results in a cleaner, more crisp and responsive audio reproduction.
Often you find that on board Digital to Analogue Converters (DACs) muddy the sound, where as the Pure Digital Drive keeps the signal pure, right up until conception.
