The T5P 2nd Generation is one of byerdynamics flagship headphones aimed at the super high quality, portable headphone market.
Hand made in Germany, the T5P benefits from all the latest updates of the Telsa technology and a switch in listening style. Much like the loved T1 2nd Gen (open back) the improvements are much loved by the current generation of listeners.
Similar to the beyerdynamic T1 2nd Gen (open back), the overall sound has been adjusted for more modern listening.
Previously some beyerdynamic products were a little lean and at times quite shrill in the higher frequencies. Some loved this but others found it a touch wearing. As a result beyer have listened and adjusted their style accordingly. The results? A much warmer more silky sound. They lay down a much bigger and solid foundation of lower frequencies. The sound is much warmer, yet they maintain the fluid, crisp and transparent sound you expect from beyer.
As noted before, these are closed back 32ohm headphones designed for portable use. The 32ohm impedance allows the headphones to be driven from low power sources such as mobiles/ laptops and the likes. However we always recommend a high quality source regardless.
The closed-back design isolates the sound from getting out and the noise from external environments from getting in. Beyer have also worked hard on isolating unwanted vibrations and high frequencies normally associated with closed-back designs. As a result, they have a massive sound stage and minimum distortion.
The headphone cables are made out of OOC (Ohno Continuous Casting) 7N copper, with a textile covering. These are detachable reducing chances of damage during transit. Later down the line you can also upgrade them to 4-pin XLR variants if you wish.
Needless to say, the T5P 2nd Gen are extremely comfy thanks to beyerdynamic's famously comfortable ear pads. Some of the best, if not the best in the world.

Please note that professional reviews for headphones are much more varied than traditional Hi-Fi. With Bookshelf Speakers and the likes, it's quite often to get 5 stars straight across the board. With Headphones, it's very rare that everyone agrees on the quality of the product, therefore straight 5 star reviews are very rare. Critically acclaimed headphones will generally average around 4 stars regardless of performance, so don't be put off by this.
That being said, we always prefer to show each review where possible, even if the review isn't so flattering. It is after all a very subjective opinion as everyone has different hearing abilities and preferred styles. Think of it like wine, you can buy a £100 bottle, but prefer a £6. At the end of the day it's down to taste and taste alone.
