The A2000Z is a Closed-Back Over-Ear headphone which is hand assembled in Japan and boasts a luxurious Titanium housing.
Solid in aesthetics, solid in nature, the ATH-A200Z not only looks fantastic, but they seriously deliver when it comes to High Fidelity Closed-Back listening.
Technologically a few things have been tweaked for the A2000Z. A new 53mm driver has been put in place which utilises the D.A.D.S system (Double Air Damping Structure). This manipulates the air flow around the headphones, resulting in deeper more controlled bass.
In addition to this, the ear pads have been modified to increase passive isolation, resulting in less outside noise. It also improves bass response, making them sound more precise yet chunky.
Technology aside, people often say they are full of energy, providing sweet and vibrant highs. Mids are slightly more prominent than most, but not overbearing. Bass as mentioned before is very deep as it extends to new lows without getting flabby in any respect.
Hand made in Japan, these headphones are a true indication of Japanese craftsmanship.
The A2000Z have a pure Titanium housing, which not only provides a stunning finish, but also increases rigidity and reduces weight. Considering the size of these monsters, they only weight at 294grams!
In addition to the fine product finish, they also utilise the '3D Wing Support' technology. This consists of 'arms' that adjust to your head size without you having to alter anything. This provides supreme support without wearing or causing unwanted pressure points.

Please note that professional reviews for headphones are much more varied than traditional Hi-Fi. With Bookshelf Speakers and the likes, it's quite often to get 5 stars straight across the board. With Headphones, it's very rare that everyone agrees on the quality of the product, therefore straight 5 star reviews are very rare. Critically acclaimed headphones will generally average around 4 stars regardless of performance, so don't be put off by this.
That being said, we always prefer to show each review where possible, even if the review isn't so flattering. It is after all a very subjective opinion as everyone has different hearing abilities and preferred styles. Think of it like wine, you can buy a £100 bottle, but prefer a £6. At the end of the day it's down to taste and taste alone.
Let us know if you find any good professional reviews and we will add them to the site!
The A2000z is an energetic fun sounding mid-centric headphone with a bias to clarity and a top end sparkle rather than a typically warm and wooly consumer musical sound. You could argue that is a fairly typical ATH sound and certainly, there is a legacy of great mid-centric headphones from the Japanese manufacturer down through the years that pay testimony to that tonal preference.Read full review
For many people, the idea of headphones that cost over £500 and have little feasible use beyond sitting at home wearing them will seem like a slightly pointless one and there is no shortage of competition for the ATH-A2000Z to face as well.
