The AD500X provides an open, detailed and natural audio experience via its 53mm drivers and surrounding technology.
Sitting at the £140 mark, the AD500X provide an astonishing audiophile experience at a reasonable price. Borrowing technology from its older brothers, the AD500X hits above its weight, therefore making them a very popular choice for people who take their listening seriously.
The soundstage of the AD500X is very open and spacious. Utilising the Open-Back design, they really 'breath' the sound. The result is a very fluid experience, where background sound and headphone sound intertwine. This provides a more natural 'Hi-Fi' experience.
The headphones are driven by 53mm drivers with their CCAW voice coil technology. This gives the headphones the power they need to produce tight, and deep bass. Mids and highs also excel due to the control that the headphones have.
Overall, they are very neutral headphones, so they won't jump out at you. They will comfortably resonate frequencies across the range allowing the music to come through in a true manner.
The AD500X were designed for very long listening sessions, so audio-technical really paid attention to this.
Components of the headphones are made from aluminium to increase strength but also reduce weight. Sitting at only 235grams, these headphones feel extremely light. That coupled with their '3D Wing Support Housing' provides ultimate comfort for long listening sessions.
Flexible raised-fabric ear pads distribute the pressure around the head evenly so that there are no awkward pressure points. All resulting in a headphone that you will keep going back to.

Please note that professional reviews for headphones are much more varied than traditional Hi-Fi. With Bookshelf Speakers and the likes, it's quite often to get 5 stars straight across the board. With Headphones, it's very rare that everyone agrees on the quality of the product, therefore straight 5 star reviews are very rare. Critically acclaimed headphones will generally average around 4 stars regardless of performance, so don't be put off by this.
That being said, we always prefer to show each review where possible, even if the review isn't so flattering. It is after all a very subjective opinion as everyone has different hearing abilities and preferred styles. Think of it like wine, you can buy a £100 bottle, but prefer a £6. At the end of the day it's down to taste and taste alone.
